Sensual Samhain Ritual

Sensual
Samhain Ritual

The veil is thinning.

Samhain marks the halfway point between the autumnal equinox and winter solstice. For centuries, ancient ancestors have been celebrating the beginning of the dark half of the year. Celtic pagan traditions include bonfires; giving thanks to what has been received and cleansing/releasing what is no longer needed.

During this time our senses are heightened in the physical and spirit realms; a time to honor our guides, ancestors and all who have paved the path before us. Mexican & Catholic traditions honor the dead with beautiful altars and offerings into Day of the Dead or All Souls’ Day.?

This year we are blessed with a blue moon to bath us in beautiful light, leading the way for spirits to connect with us. A rare and special night indeed!

To celebrate this sacred occasion, I’ve put together a Sensual Samhain Ritual to honor our ancestors and release all that we no longer wish to carry. Peace out 2020!

Sensual Samhain Ritual

Tools:

? Ritual music (I love this song)
? Incense or anointing oil (I prefer frankincense or lavender)
? Feather
? Food offering (fruit, grains, pumpkin, etc) + something to taste for yourself
? Black, red & white candles
? Matches
? Fire proof bowl
? Pen & paper/journal

1. Start by setting your space and creating time to fully participate in the ritual uninterrupted. Of course, you can do this with friends! Create the mood by playing your ritual music and smudging the space with herbs, lighting incense, and/or anointing your third eye (6th chakra), heart (4th chakra) and sex energy (2nd chakra) centers. Set your candles (on your altar if you have one) in your ritual space, along with your food offering to ancestors and spirit.

2. Begin the ritual by setting an intention out loud or internally, then visualize a protective light around you, knowing you are safe in your space. Take your feather and waft along your skin; removing any unwanted energy and creating a pleasurable experience for your body.

3. Call upon your personal guides, ancestors, spirits, and/or higher beings by inviting them to be present with you, giving guidance and support.

4. Light your candles with the same flame; in order of black, red then white.

5. Repeat or recite your own as you look at each candle; again in order of black, red, white:

I see black as I let the past fade away, giving thanks to the memories and events leading to right now in this present moment. I give gratitude to the growth and all that I have accomplished this year.

I see red as I look to the future, filling me with passion and fire to take action toward my desires. My future is filled with abundance, love, pleasure, and adventure. I am guided and protected by my ancestors and spirit always.

I see white as I sit in the pure stillness of the present moment. There is no other time that exists except in this very moment. I am at peace. I am blissful. I am free. And so it is.

6. While your candles are still lit, write a letter to the women who came before you, giving thanks to your ancestors. Honor all that they have achieved and sacrificed to pave the way for your path right now. You can choose a specific family member or write to women/ancestors in general. Seal with a kiss and place the letter on your altar or near your candles.

7. Taking a new piece of paper, write down 3 things you’d like to clear and release going forward. Do you need to release anger, resentment, jealousy, greed, anxiety, depression? Whatever it is, you are accepting this as part of your path and consciously choosing to release.

8. With your fire proof bowl near (and maybe some water to be safe), light your clearings paper on fire and drop it into the bowl. Meditate on letting these things go as you release the energy into the ether through the baptism of fire.

9. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Taste your food, fully let yourself enjoy every bite and noticing the sensations you experience. Then, gently stroke your skin with your hands, giving your body pleasure in any way it desires. This lets your system know you are safe, you are present and connected to your body.

10. To end your ritual, give thanks to yourself and your guides. Once you feel complete, visualize your protective light dissolving into Spirit. Blow out your candles and close the ritual space by putting your tools away and tidying up.

I hope you enjoyed this ritual as we move into dark Autumn and Winter. To celebrate this rare blue moon even further, I’ve partnered with some amazing creative healers to bring you an epic giveaway.
