4 Ways to Release Your Emotions

When we find ourselves in situations where emotions need to be released, we often shove them in—never to be felt again.

It’s what many of us were taught after all.

E-motions are: energy in motion and it has to go somewhere. When we stuff our emotions in and down, it stays stuck in the system causing blockages in the mind, body and energy pathways. In the Tantric tradition, no emotion is inherently “good” or “bad”, although we’ve done a stellar job at labeling them as such. All emotions are pure life energy and every emotion has an innate consciousness to it.

The inability to ride emotional waves can cause a lot of blockages, especially in creativity, sex, and intimacy. Emotions can start to arise in these situations, but because we have been conditioned to only feel “good” emotions, our body tries to block the “bad” emotions.

Over time, this conflict creates hardness and numbness inside the body and in relationships. We can also resort to filling the void by numbing with substances, food, or physical sensation. We may even begin to express opposite emotions in order to avoid how we’re really feeling.

Emotional maturity allows you to let life flow through you, hold emotional states that used to be blockages to your expression, make empowered choices & move toward your desires.

This is essential for having incredible relationships, because you can communicate and take responsibility for your emotions and your actions. The important thing here is to take the time to process an emotion before directing it at someone else. It’s also key for love and intimacy; having the ability to open your heart and take chances.

Once we can allow this energy to move through us, we can alchemize it to our advantage. Use your emotions as fuel to THRIVE. When we begin to FEEL and MOVE our energy, we can harness that energy for our passions, pleasures, and joys!

Watch my 30 second video below for 4 ways to safely release your emotions. Of course, these aren’t the only ways to release emotion, just some examples that you can adapt for many situations. Tune into your body and ask what is right for you—your body will thank you.
